Using someone's words against them is easy when their words used out of context. Lipstick on a pig is a common expression. McCain has said it before when talking about Hillary Clinton, who is a woman by the way, and yet there were no cries of sexism then. If you will look at what Obama said in context, you will discover he was talking about Mr. McCain, not Ms. Palin. So please educate yourself, strive to find some truth in all of the media craziness designed to keep you glued to the TV rather than to inform you, and let's all decide that Americans should act smarter than this and think about what's at stake this election. If we could all leave the tabloid gossip alone and investigate the Issues with an open mind, America could be on the way to becoming what our founders wanted our democracy to be: an informed public, a diversity of ideas, a functional government. Thank you.
Emily,
Ive read you comment about McCain using Obama's words against him with the "lipstick on pig" moment. Should we look at McCain the same way when he used the same statement against Hillary to describe her health care plan? I'm tired of conservatives jumping on one line to get at Obama. Women should be offended at the number of comments McCain has made in the past, joking or not. What about the "bitch" comment during the primaries? McCain wasn't offended when asked that question. And who's the celebrity now that Palin is on board? Everything republicans complained about in the past will come back to haunt them on Nov 4th.
"McCain is only using Obama's own words against him! any woman with any amount of self respect would be insulted by his lipstick remark!"
Women should be offended at Obama using the word "lipstick" in a sentence? He wasn't even talking about Palin. He was commenting on McCain trying to paint himself as a reformer while backing almost all of Bush's policies.
This is a cynical attempt to generate buzz about Obama being sexist instead of talking about issues.
Every American should be insulted by his choice for the VP... it is an insult to the office... it is so clear why she was picked... and every women should be insulted that Ms. Palin was only picked because of her gender.. the list of more intelligent choices is endless. As an independent, he made my choice SOOOO easy....
Emily,
I think you should look at the actual statement. It is a figure of speech directed at failed policy. It was not directed at a human being. If you are still not convinced, then God save this country.
Bill
Oh Emily...you clearly missed the real sexism that occured when Hillary was running. Of course back then, your right-wing whacko friends said repeatedly that Hillary should be treated as an equal...meaning she was fair game. Now that Palin is on the ticket I'm not surprised to see you and your right-wing GOP pals claiming "victim" and inventing blatant lies to attack Obama with regards to sexism and sex to divert attention from her obviously right-right-right wing record and pack of lies she is telling. What a good Christian she is...I'm sure Jesus is so very proud of her.
Don't you have a copy of "Obama Nation" you should be reading along with the rest of the GOP sheeple?
Drink that kool aid because that's all that's being offered by McCain & Co

You have got to be kidding me. He used the very same phrase against Hillary discribing her policies. And at one of his Town Hall meetings one if his supporter's called Hillary a Bitch!!! Are you serious. Don't be as stupid as the obviously think we are!!!
— Cocoama
Emily, were you insulted when John McCain made the same remark in reference to Hillary's health plan or when Obama used the same remark in reference to Bush's new war policy? Grow up, can't you see that McCain is trying to get women riled because he doesn't have any new issues to talk about. It's the same old lame republican tactics. They are not going to work, not this time. Voters are more intellegent now, after 8 years of record unemployment, Homes being loss, high gas prices, Trillion dollars debt, etc. And you are insulted by a lipstick remark that McCain has used before?
Emily and can you tell me if McCain has even listed anything he will change or do ? No you can't - so don't let your ignorance show. Research and speak intelligently.

Hey emily...sure everyone wants change for a better life. But you probably make a lot of money, so that you wont mind McCain charging you or making your check smaller by adding an extra tax on what you are paying into your health insurance policy. You contribute what ...about $12,000 per year to your health insurance policy and McCain will tax that $12,000, so $12000 + (tax amount)= new heath insurance amount/year. McCain has no idea how the average person lives...he said our economy is doing just fine and that the middle class is anyone making less than $5 million....I admire and respect McCain, but he is old shool, out of touch and stuck in the old ways.
